    • On September 4, 2020 the Centers for Disease Control issued an order limiting evictions nationwide.  If you are a tenant and are behind on your rent because of COVID-19, you have the right to sign, under Penalty of Perjury, this Declaration to stop an eviction.  Declarations should be delivered to landlords as soon as possible. Courts in Maryland are still holding trials on evictions.  You should never ignore papers from a Court.  You have the right to present this Declaration in Court as a defense to an eviction.
